18 February 2018 - Aer Lingus 12C

Aer Lingus Flight 12C (It will be called 12C for the rest of this transcript, unless it's said as 125 in the transcript.), was a flight from Dublin Airport to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. 

On February 18, 2018, on takeoff, they reported a landing gear issue, and performed a successful emergency landing at Dublin.

Nobody was injured or killed.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, go ahead.

R1:
Ground, Rescue 1, just be informed at point T we're looking to get into vantage point East please to hopefully attack these birds away from the airfield.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, that's approved. Hold clear of the large track Runway 28 at all times. Report complete.

R1:
Hold short of 28 on all times on vantage point East, Rescue 1, thanks.

R15:
Ground, Rescue 15.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 15, go ahead.

R15:
Rescue 15 on E3 holding short 28 at all times. That flock of starlings looks like it's now settled now in the grass here between E3 and E4. Would it be possible to park ourselves and take an eye at E3?

EIDW GND:
Rescue 15, do you need to move closer to the runway, confirm?

R15:
I could fire from my location here, the flock settled in the grass directly in front of me here. But firing here would hopefully make them move away from this area here, and then my colleague Rescue 1...

EIDW GND: 
Rescue 15, if you can just wait for the landing ATR that's about to touchdown and then you can fire from your present position.

R15:
After the landing ATR, firing approved from our present position E3 holding short of Runway 10 at all times, Rescue 15.

EIDW TWR:
Shamrock 12C, line up Runway 28.

EIN12C:
Line up Runway 28, Shamrock 12C.

EIDW TWR:
Shamrock 12C, keep Departure on the roll, please. The surface wind 250 degrees at 18 knots. Runway 28, cleared for takeoff. 

EIN12C:
Cleared for takeoff 28, Shamrock 12C.

R1:
He's going to enter B1 and giving way to taxi and looking to make my way towards B2 holding short of 34 initially.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, that's approved. Hold short of Runway 34 and Runway 28 at all times, giving way to taxiing aircraft. 

R1:
Hold short of all runways, give way to taxi and Rescue 1 will hold on E2, on B2, correction. will call for crossing. Thank you.

EIDW GND:
NC, just give way to a vehicle left to right on B ahead of you, they need to do some bird scaring.

NC:
Copy that, give way to the rescue vehicle on the left, over NC.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, are you able to just cross Runway 16 ahead of the ATR?

R1:
Affirm.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, cross Runway 16 and report on B3.

R1:

Shamrock 12C, we're just passing 4300 feet. We'd like to level off 5000 feet if you can clear us for that.

EIDW TWR:

EIN12C:

EIDW TWR:
Shamrock 12C, you still have to climb with departure?

EIN12C:
We'll continue with the departure for the moment, just need to level 5000 feet initially.

We have an undercarriage issue, so we're just on to our maintenance base to see if they can come up with a reset. We don't have anything here we can do that we're aware of.

EIDW TWR:
12C, no problem at all. Just for your information, in 12 miles the base controlled airspace changes to FL80.

EIN12C:
Roger that. Can we take up the hold here then where we are?

EIDW TWR:
Affirm, you can enter over where we are. 

EIN12C:
Great, thank you very much.

R1:
Ground, Rescue 1.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, go ahead.

R1:
Ground, Rescue 1, just on B7. I'm looking to cross on B7 when clear to enter the road for the perimeter road if possible I will be vacating the airfield on B7.

EIDW GND:
Rescue 1, hold position and monitor Tower 118.600.

R1:

Ryanair 338, you have a traffic returning to field. Can you increase your speed for a short while to just get ahead of him?

RYR338:

Affirm, may I request a descent and if we could make an approach to Dublin. We will be landing overweight, and we're going to use the full length of the runway. It will be a normal landing, but just for your information it will be a full length.

EIDW APP:
Shamrock 12C, roger, and just to confirm you won't need any assistance?

EIN12C:
Just we wanna have the service on standby for that, we don't need any assistance.

EIDW APP:
